Hwange National Park
Unique safari experience
It doesn’t take long to discover that Zimbabwe’s wildlife experiences remain some of Africa’s best. Zimbabwe has some of the most pristine and well-managed wildlife areas and the largest is Hwange National Park – Zimbabwe’s flagship wildlife destination.
A photographers paradise!
Covering a staggering 14,651 square kilometres in western Zimbabwe (near to Victoria Falls) this National Park offers close encounters with as many as 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 different species of birds that have been recorded.
This amazing spectacle is only possible due to the vast expanses of Kalahari sands and the diversity of different habitats that occur within the park. From savannah woodland, teak forests, camelthorn stands and open grassy planes, there is a home for everything and a spectacle for everyone who visits.
The best wildlife viewing is in the drier months from June through to October when the animals are driven to the “pumped” waterholes rather than spreading out around the vast park.
However, all year round there is always a hive of activity in the park. In the green season there is fantastic birding and the vleis teem with wobbly legged baby animals and usually a predator is not far behind.
